"Every week I drive to Brett's house and I do personal training for the whole crew and then every week I do a group call for mindset and NLP related stuff."
That second part is what this piece is about. The call. It happens every week, whether the week is good or bad.
Most people only work on their mindset when something breaks. A bad launch. A client leaves. A rough month. Then they go looking for a book or a podcast to pull them out of it. I think that's backwards. Mindset gets a permanent slot, the same way training does. It's not a rescue. It's a practice.
Mindset is where I come from
"Health fitness mindset stuff because that's my roots. That's where I came from."
I wrote about those roots in Health, Fitness, and Mindset Are My Roots. The short version: I started as a fitness coach, and health, fitness, and mindset never stopped being part of what I do.
People sometimes treat those as two separate things. Train the body over here. Fix the thinking over there. I've never seen it that way. Both respond to the same thing: repetition, done on purpose, over time. You don't get strong from one workout. You don't change a thought pattern from one conversation.
That's the lesson training teaches better than anything else. Nobody expects to get fit from one great session. They know it takes weeks of showing up. But people expect to fix how they think from one great book or one big weekend. Then they're surprised when the old patterns come back on Monday. The mind works like the body. It changes from reps.
It goes on the calendar, not in the mood
Here's the problem with waiting until you feel like it. The weeks you need mindset work most are the weeks you'll feel like it least.
When things are hard, you get busy. You try to fix the business by working more hours. The last thing you want to do is stop and look at what's going on in your own head. So you don't. And the pattern that got you stuck keeps running.
A standing weekly slot fixes that. It happens no matter what. On good weeks, you build on the good stuff. On bad weeks, it's already there waiting for you. You don't have to decide to show up. You already decided.
If you have nothing like that in your week right now, start small. Thirty minutes. Same time, same day. Put it on the calendar before your client calls go in.
It doesn't need to be complicated. Some people journal. Some work with a coach. Some join a group. What matters is that it's the same slot every week and that you use it to look honestly at what's going on in your head, not just to plan your to do list.
Language shapes what you do next
NLP is about the language we use, especially with ourselves, and the patterns underneath how we react.
You don't need a certification to use the basic idea. Just start noticing the sentences you say in your head when something goes wrong.
"I always do this." "Nobody's going to buy it." "I'm not a tech person." "I'm not ready yet."
Those sentences aren't facts. They're stories. And the story you tell about a situation decides what you do next. If the story is "nobody's going to buy it," you don't launch. If the story is "I don't know yet if they'll buy it, so let's find out," you put it in front of ten people this week.
Same situation. Different sentence. Completely different action.
Try this. For one week, write down every time you catch yourself saying something like that. Don't argue with it yet. Just catch it. Most people are shocked by how often the same few sentences show up. Once you can see them, you can start choosing different ones.
This matters most for anyone building a business or a course. Tactics don't work if you don't believe they'll work for you. You can have the perfect launch plan and still not press the button, because some sentence in your head says it won't work. That's why I tell experts to open their courses with belief, not tactics. I wrote about that in Belief First, Tactics Second.
Mindset work is where you learn that order. First, change the story. Then the tactics have something to stand on.
Why a group works
A group does something that working alone can't.
First, accountability. When other people expect you to show up, you show up. That alone is worth a lot.
Second, you learn from other people's stuff. Sometimes the breakthrough isn't about your problem at all. You hear someone else talk through theirs, and you realize you've been doing the exact same thing. It's easier to see a pattern in somebody else first.
Third, it keeps you honest. It's hard to keep telling yourself a story that a room full of people can see straight through.
You don't need to run a group call to get this. Find two or three people who are building something and agree to meet every week. Same time. Talk about what's really going on, not just the wins.
How this connects to what we build
Freedom Builderz was built so that people don't have to die without sharing their gifts. Everyone comes here with a song to sing, and we get to build the stage. A lot of people never step onto it, and it's rarely because they lack the knowledge. It's the story in their head that says they're not ready. A business that has you on calls all day leaves no room for the weekly work that changes that story. Making room for it is part of building something that lasts.
If you want to see where your business stands before you change anything, the Expert Score takes a few minutes.
Frequently asked questions
What is NLP in mindset coaching?
NLP stands for neuro linguistic programming. In mindset coaching it is used to look at the language you use with yourself and the patterns behind how you react, then change the ones that are not serving you. The practical side is noticing the story you tell about a situation and choosing a more useful one.
How often should you work on your mindset?
Regularly, not only when things go wrong. A weekly practice works well for most people because it is frequent enough to build a habit and spaced enough to apply what you learn in between. Treat it like training: a standing appointment that does not depend on how you feel that day.
Is group mindset coaching as effective as one on one?
It can be, for different reasons. One on one gives you focused attention on your specific patterns. A group gives you accountability, and you often learn as much from hearing someone else work through a problem as from working on your own. Many people use both at different stages.
Why does mindset matter for entrepreneurs?
Because the business will test you in ways a job never did. Uncertainty, rejection, slow months, and big decisions all run through how you think. Strategy only works if you can act on it. Mindset is what lets you keep acting when the results have not shown up yet.
